im relplacing my ignition switch, and its held there by those 2 screws with the heads that are supposed to break off, well how do i take them out??? ive tried the craftsman unscrew bit, doesnt work right, i dunno wtf to do, please help!
I have always taken them out with vice grips. If you drop the column down, and are careful, the large part of the head can be gripped by a sharp pair of vice grips.
ya it was tamper proof, what i did, was drill it a bit with a 1/8" drill bit, then i got the good old hammer and chisel, hammered at where i drilled at the top of the head. Once i did that a bit, i had a nice big slot, then i just used my flat head screw driver and unscrewed them .
wouldn't it have been easier to just have bought the right tool and it would have been quicker.you can't always fix everything with visegrips and hammers.
Hey if it works do it, the chisel, drill and hammer method worked fine, that way i just used a slotted screw driver and took it out . Saves me money and gives me thinking points.
