Here's the story; a friend of mine just bought a super clean 91 GT. The motor is completely stock. About 2 miles from my apartment, 10 miles from the dealer, the car just dies. I'm driving it, and it just stops. After trying to diagnose a few quick things on the side of the road and coming up short we had to have it towed.
Today we've been working all day trying to diagnose the problem. We replaced the coil, and the module on the distributor. No start. It cranks continuously, but just wont fire. I've tried taking a screw driver into a plugwire and cranking in an attempt to get an arc but I cant, same with the coil, no arc. We're thinking about getting a reman distributor (he doesnt plan on really modifying it) but we want to be 100% sure we're not missing anything, none of the easy steps that is. Basically, I'd hate to see him spend $100+ and have that not be the problem.
Guide me, share your wisdom... help me at least narrow it down to where I know for sure the distributor will fix it. If you need more info, ask.
quick recap... it wont start
-replaced coil
-replaced module
still cant get a spark...
Help me!
oh, and happy veterans day... from one vet to all the others.
