it was only on one or two clicks. I didn't smell or hear a thing, I just happen to look down to see what gear I was in and saw it. I probably turned beet red, I felt really stupid.

I have done it for a block or so. You should be fine the rear brakes do nothing at 1-2 clicks.

yea, the brakes are fine. There was a thread recently about disabling the parking brake lockout for the vert switch, and I thought it was kind of silly....now I might look into seeing about disabling that sucker. In the auto, I never use the parking brake and certainly the top isn't going to go down unless the clamps are released. But then again, it could come up while moving. Maybe I'll just wire up another switch elsewhere, so I'd have to press down the lockout switch and the vert switch, otherwise the vert switch is dead. Good excuse to rip out the center console and make a project out of it.

Stay tuned, I ripped out my center console tonight to wire up and install:

A lockout toggle switch to remove power to the vert switch.
A bypass switch (momentary) to depress while using the vert switch (instead of the brake).
A Green LED to show power status to the vert switch.

Some may say why, what a waste of time. Why not, I say because I can, plus my wife will never be able to figure out how to drop the top

Did you have any trouble removing the center console? I always do... How does the e-brake boot look?

lol, funny you asked.....It's perfect because I already knew the trick with the ebrake. I put a nick in my dash though where I leaned the console forward. It's not terribly noticeable though, and I found 18 cents.

Is your e-brake boot ripped or torn? I have had to repair mine twice.

Nope. I destroyed the one in the coupe. ended up using new staples, and hot glue to stick it back to the console and it's still holding even with all the ebrake usage.

Mine is...... what is the fix KT? I was just going to get a nice leather one, but if I can fix it then I will.

Thanks,

FYI - the vert switch changes polarity when the ignition is off, which makes monkeying around with this circuit a pita. Relay is really the only way to go to get everything working on one switch. I just ended up putting in a normally open momentary switch wired to the parking brake sensor, so that when I press the button, the pb light comes on the dash and the vert switch is energized and works. I post a pic later.

FYI - there are no switched ignition wires in the console, if you want ignition you have to go to one of the 3 switches above the console, radio, or fuse box.

Pic as promised:
