For those of you that know me, you are aware I'm a Mustang & Ford nut. I've owned a bunch of torino's and mustang's.

I finally switched to the Dark Side, (sort of). I still have the '69 Fastback, and the '01 GT is doing fine. The '95 GT Vert was getting tired so I traded it in this past Monday. What is the new toy? A 2001 Corvette ZO6 Torch Red in color, with 19,000 miles. This is one of the most incredible cars I've ever driven and surely the best I've ever owned. This thing is just amazing.

My wife and I were planning for the last few months to Purchase an '05 GT. We went to a few dealers and finally drove one on Sunday. It have a noted power increase over the '01 GT but I think it still needs more power. It felt nice but just didn't compare in looks or performance. If anyone is considering an '05GT I'd suggest driving a ZO6. Purely amazing.

Keep in mind I still have Blue in my blood but I like the feel of the red bowtie getting in there.

one of the last few latemodel GMs that was worth a dam to begin with. Only the GTO comes as close to Ponys and Cats as a Vette does, for me at least.

i simply can't stand the looks of late model vette's.

The new GTOs on the other hand, I could make love to them.

Wait so Corvette owners actually have a reason to be arrogant pricks who think their cars are better than anyone else's?

It shouldn't say Pontiac on it anywhere IMO.

I will always remember a line from a really bad Jan-Michael Vincent movie (isn't that an oxymoron?) - "No candy-coated kiddie-car is gonna run away from me!"

It shouldn't say Pontiac on it anywhere IMO.

I can't think of any new Pontiac that should say Pontiac on it anywhere.

That's a good point. If I had to take any late model Pontiac it'd be a GTP. To me the boosted 3.8(whether it be turbo or S/C) is a GM trademark worthy of the badges.

My point about the GTO is that it's not an AMERICAN car much less an American Muscle Car. But I would respect the car as an Australian car. They have some badass cars down there. They shouldn't need new badges and fake names to sell those cars up here.

Thanks for the replies. I'm really happy with the car. I have noted one thing. It seems when in traffic more people turn away with a disgusted look then smiling. I always get smiles in the mustang. I guess the Vette owners have some type of stigma that goes with them, I don't think the vette is any cooler then my old stang although it is much different.

Regardless, I love the car.

Dark Side?

Least it's not a honda (no offense to the many honda owners who get 200mpg with zero emissions)

Wait just a cotton pickin' minute here.... he got rid of Torinos in order to buy a steenking Corvette

That does it! Somebody needs to "appropriate" his motor and stuff an AMC 343 in his poor Mustang. Better yet, keep the Stang intact and just give him the 343 in a Gremlin! He's not worthy of that Cleveland! :damnit:

I love my Generic Chavy Truck; but to give up a fine, upstanding 'rod like a Torino, just to "Wrap His A$$ in Fiberglas" Harrrumph!

Man I love classic Mustangs, but a new Z06 would definitely come between the classic Mustangs and the late model ones. Too bad they're ultra-ultra rare here, and have to be converted to RHD booo!

Congrats on the Vette!

Man, you should have waited till the new GT500s came out, then you would have all the power you would need out of an 05 model!

clev- I have been playing both sides of the force for some time as well. I have a '92 corvette that sleeps next to the mustang.

My father has a Torch Red '01 Z51 with a Blackwing air intake and Corsa exhaust, puts down 324 RWHP!

Have you checked out any of the vette forums yet? I frequent Digitalcorvettes.com

Hey at least then it would start everyday! j/k...those Z06's command respect. And IMO as long as it's american I'm ok with it. Keep in mind Chysler is now German owned...Funny it took Germans to bring back classic looking Mopars not americans? What's with that????
