So, for the longest time i have been trying to mount a camera inside my car to record Laps at Trackdays and Canyons runs. A Sparco harness bar and the mount to hold a camera would be close to $400!!! So i decided to make my own.

I went to a local camera shop and Bought this 3-D Movable mount to hold the Camera. Cost $30.

So then i began the construction of The Bar. I decided to make something the mounted in between the 2 seats using the headrest bar for support. I bought 1'x36' Square Aluminum Tubing. Some flat U-Bolts and some other hardware to make it come together.

I then measured Twice and Mocked it up. My drill ran out of batteries so i used a dremel to drill the holes and cut the excess threads off the bolts so everything fit clean and flush.....and just to make it look a little Pimp i Used metal polish and made the aluminum Tube Shine!!! Cant wait to get out and get some pics and vids!!!

I Used My Pocket Camera for The Demo and Mock up Pics.

My house is 5 mins from Turnbull Canyon, GMR (Glendora Mountain Road), and Santiago Canyon.

all three of those were in Sport Compacts Magazine's Top 10 Canyons to Touge in the US

Looks cool. How steady does it hold the camera while filming?

Nice piece! I've been thinking about making something similar for mine, but I always figured most people are more interested in what's happening on the outside (burnouts
and whatnot). Do I see a stock H-pipe in one picture there next to some drums?

dude that rug kicks ass! i had the one that had the city on it, always drifted my hotwheels around it.

btw thats a good idea, i might fab up a mount soon as well that is universal so it works with my GT and my 1990 GSX, and i too had the idea of a bar utilizing a C clamp system to hook into the headrests. Nice work, now i dont have to use my brain.

Don't know 'bout mounting using headrest posts. I probably would've used the upper seatbelt mounting bolts. Hate for one of the sides to break and that rod come around and smack you in da head.
