Ite great people of stangnet..

Im debating on my trans situation..

either go with a re-man astro perf. 400hp t5 $1100

or I found a 3550 tremec with low miles for $950

here's the deal, Im absolutely sick of t5's!! They DO NOT LAST.. I talked with tony at astro and he's an absolutely awesome guy, called me back after I called and we talked about 15mins about my car and how long it would hold up, according to him if I dont do anything crazy and put slicks and or a poweradder i should be fine..

here's the dealio.. Im going to be pushing some compressed air through this thing soon and I dont want to have to deal with the trans for the billionth time when that comes...

so what would I be better off doing? The trans looks like new (3550) Im just wandering how many miles i can get out of it, driving like I normally do. Like maybe a run or 2 every week?

Thoughts?

for the money I would go with the Astro. they are rated for 450, but can handle over 500 ft/lbs. that more than twice what the stock T5 is good for. unless you are pushing some serious compressed air through your motor I would go with that.

see you tomorrow mang

I don't know why you are having problems with T5's. How much power are you making?

I had a 95GT with H/C/I, and 11lbs of boost from a P600B Procharger. The car only had 3.08 gears so it only ran 13.30's but at a blistering 113.5MPH!! That stock T5 handled plenty of runs down the track and many more street races. It also handled LOTS of 60MPH drops into 2nd, the car instantly had 11-12ish pounds of boost and was GONE!!!! I sold the car and that T% still worked perfectly.

Tony at Asrto is a good guy. He shipped me a part for my T45 I had it from FL, to MI in 2 days. I'm sure his trannies can handle some HP.
