I was thinking. I was laid off in Feb and been looking for work. So why not start a thread for those of us out of work... Post what you do, where you are looking... and maybe those of us that are working can help each other employee referral into the company.

Since I started I'll go first:

I am a Mechanical Engineer. Been working as a Mechanical Design Engineer for the last 8.5 years. Looking for an engineering position (Design, Quality, Manufacturing, Etc) within approximatley a 1h15m commute of my home in Brooklyn, CT.

Thanks for your help guys.

Not a bad idea. I'm a web developer, I do anything from plain HTML to C#, ASP.NET, PHP, JSP, and SQL databases as well. I'm kinda a jack-of-all-trades in this industry, I know a ton of computer languages. I've been looking for work since Xmas, need something soon.

Ok well im a union ironworker local 433 out of Los Angeles, Im an erector and have been doing the new Ritz Carlton 55 story in downtown LA Live for the past year and a half.

Our union is strong, we have PLENTY of work but it is HARD AND DANGEROUS work, we make a decent living as we make $41.00 HR on the check and have full benefits w/pension and 401K, but like I said it's hard work not alot of people want to do it. I LOVE IT!!!! If any of you California guys need work you should look into the unions, there are MANY different ones and all make good money, some are flooded with work and some are not, if you guys are interested in the ironworkers let me know.
