Has anyone installed Infinity Reference 3012cf speakers in the dash? Were any modifications required? The Crutchfield website says that they won't fit, but it looks like the bottom mount depth is only 1/16" bigger than other speakers that are supposed to fit.
I'm sure if Crutchfield say they won't fit, they won't fit. It could be more than just the mounting depth that causes you problems. I've ordered stuff from them before and requested all of the paperwork to help for installation...it was all excellent info. You could possibly order the speakers and alter the installation to make them fit, it could be something simple like the drilling through something for attachment purposes.
I'll say Crutchfield doesnt know THAT much,if they did, they wouldnt constantly call my company for tech support and im sure they call plenty others.They get their info like the rest of the industry,from other companies and then just put it in a database.
