How accurate is the average mpg readout? Mine stays between 20 - 21mpg.
Ive had trouble checking the old school method of dividing miles driven
by gallons used because I cant trust the gas pump to trip off accuratly.

Thats cool , Im really glad to be getting over 20 mpg , most V6's dont get
that. :nice: I just filled up tonight , took 14.5 gallons. The info center
said I had 7 miles until empty. I like the way the gas gauge turns red when
your almost out of gas. I had forgot how low I was and then noticed the red
gas gauge. wtf. $42 to fill up with regular. That was at $2.89 a gallon.:notnice:

That is the thing. One must reset the meter while on the go for the more accurate up to the min. average. If not, one would have all the stop and go driving thru town and idling to drop the current mpg average. Of course, this would not be a real statement in what average you get under your normal driving conditions. Heck, my GT/CS got 89 mpg when I reset the meter at 45 mph, 6th gear, foot off the accelerator pedal, and a slight downhill slope.

If you do an average of the mpg the old way, and then average that between several tank fulls, it will bring you a better balance. This will also help with the different pumps used. You will never be able to pin each tank down to the exact mpg without more accurate machines. Even the temps will cause a variance.

My new '11 GT is showing me about 16.5 average for a tank (after 1.5 tanks). It's mostly city driving, and the car has 400 miles on it. I hope it gets better. And it's not like I'm beating on it...it's 20 degrees out!

My '07 averaged 21mpg on a tank, but I think there may have been some more hwy. driving in there...and it had 3.55s. The '11 has 3.73s, but at 70mph they both turn the same RPM....sooo...I would think it would be the same mpg.
