Im looking at buying a water temp gauge from cyberdyne for my 85gt. I like the digital readout and ease of checking it. I know the stock gauge is electric. Can I just hook up the stock wires to the new temp gauge? Or do I have to put in a new sender and rewire everything? If so, where is a good place to install a sender unit for accurate readings on the water temp?
Im also gonna get a voltmeter gauge from them. Im planning on getting atleast a 130 amp alt.
Thanks for the help...

Joe, be patient. if your thread does not happen to be on page one, and the right people arent reading at that time, you are SOL. or people just dont like you. LOL J/K, Joe.
(ive had many threads that got no play, and chalk it up to the former, though it is probably the latter).

i dont know an answer for you. assuming there are no resistors or anything in the stock wiring (um, some crotchrockets, for instance, were goin in for service cuz the gauge was reading too hot. the official solution was that since the motor was not running too hot to do harm, a resistor was installed to knock the gauge down a bar or two. LOL).

i would check the stock wire's resistance. if ok, you could try to hook your new gauge up to it. i personally would run a new wire, as the old one has probably seen better days. but the stock wire should work.

now im assuming your new gauge is electric. you WILL need to use their sender. on 87 on up, the sender is to the drivers side and just behind the dizzy in the lower intake manifold (one wire sending unit). should be the same for yours, i think.

this may not help much, but atleast you got a response. LOL.
good luck, Joe.
