what is this tuning device your refering too?? is this something for any maf or just pro-m's and how does it work?/ is this something more for guys who have all kinds of tuning equipment or is it something basic anyone could use? just curious as i don't recall seeing that mentioned much in here, especially with all the maf posts..

I have seen it advertised and one guy on here has it and said it really worked. Basically a box that goes between the MAF and EEC harness and alters the readings. Never delt with it before, don't know any more about it.

Either way, I really don't belive in that type of parts for EFI because your just altering readings to fool the PCM. I think if I were to stay EFI (which could happen) I would want to get a standalone aftermarket PCM, they are so much more advanced. Literally the difference between the stock computer and an aftermarket unit is similar to the differences between the original Nintendo and the Playstation 2. Of course, just like that, one is much more complex and expensive and one is much cheaper and simpler.

Amen, brother.

Stick with efi.
Find a stand alone system that will allow you to do what you desire to do. The TwEECer comes to mind, but I am not sure what you are looking for.
Tricking the EEC will never yield as strong of a response as actually modifying the EEC-IV.

I'd definitely go with 30s. 24s were causing problems in my old 320rwhp 302, but 30s were enough for my turbo car at 440+rwhp.

OK now what should I do FastDriver is saying that 24's arent enough. Any one have any thoughts? vristang how much is the TwEECer system, and what exactly is it?

here's a way you can think about it if you like:

factory 5.0s made 225 at the crank and ford picked a 19 lb/hr injector. 225/19 = 11.84

24*11.84 = 284hp
30*11.84 = 355hp

obviously, you can support a higher hp with increased fuel system pressure on small injectors. So, you can make 24 lbers flow like 30 lbers. From my experience fuel flow supports hp almost linearly. Saw a guy earlier who made 1100 rwhp with 96 lb injectors (look him up in the dyno section of turbomustangs.com for proof)

96 * 11.84 = 1137hp

How much power are you planning to make?

BTW if you want a TWEECER non R/T, I've got a brand new one never used in the box for 200.

Check this out
TwEECer website

I don't have one myself, but will pick one up before I add boost to the 408.

This system is supposedly tougher to learn how to use than some of the other software out there, but is more powerful.

Dude, stick with the 24's like I said unless he is planning on putting more power adders on it. With the 24's you can just bump up the pressure a little bit and with the 30's you might have to turn it down. It is better to have an injector running on slightly higher pressure than the stock than it is to have a bigger injector running less pressure (stock 39psi) I have mine set to 44psi so with the 331 you can bump it to 46psi or something but that all depends. Like I said 24's are much more street friendly at idle and tuneable. Talk to any local tuner in your area and they will tell you 24's or 30's will be fine. I would go with wichever you can get the best deal on. By the way I have not yet taken mine to the track I just got done building it and with the 24's it is running a litle rich, have to get it tuned!
