The saga continues, I gather everything ever fixed on this car was done taking the easy, not correct route. I assume someone patched the top of the inner fender and just drilled holes instead of the square hole/oval hole you need for the clips. I'll fix that but I was wondering what the significance of the much larger square holes on the other fender, do I need to replicate those for any reason?

Here's the unmolested inner fender, there's a larger square hole in between the two hole clip combos, and there's another one further back, do I need these?

Here's the other inner with missing ingredients

Maybe one of the experts will chime in here, but I believe that those other holes were used to hold and align the panels when the car was manufactured. They don't seem to serve any purpose when the car is assembled, other than to very slightly lighten the structure.

Two of those big square holes on each fender is for the clearance of the push in hood bumpers. The bottom of the bumpers push thru the fender and stick thru the square hole. The bumpers stick out about a 1/4 inch or so. If you plan on using the bumpers, don't get rid of them.

Thanks guys, I guess I'll be adding the big holes as well, now where did I put my square drill bits?
