The stripes in question will be painted on, and after searching past forum threads cost quite alot $1500-$3000 for a quality job (wow really that much?). Now I am definitly having the California Dreamhood installed, either at purhcase or later down the road - and possible future addons (rear fascia, ducktail spoiler, etc).

My question is on the striping process. If I am striping the car should I wait until I have all exterior upgrades installed so they can be striped together and it be more cost efficent, or can I add items at my discretion and have them striped to match the car? I'm a little concerned about the latter process with matching the stripes EXACTLY with the rest of the car's stripes. What route did you all take?

You should definitly wait until you have all your exterior upgrades on, like your hood. If you dont, then you will just have to have those done anyway. When i had my stripes painted on though, it costed 1300 and the shop it was at did a perfect job.

If you want dual Lemans stripes across the top of the car you will have to get just the top areas painted and cleared. (front fascia, hood, roof, trunk, rear valence, and any spoilers) When I did mine I did the rocker panel stripes in 3M vinyl so the sides wouldn't have to be painted and cleared too. It's a big job to do it right. To do the whole job and not just sections at a time it would probably cost a little less.

I would wait, i'm sure if you asked the shop the would say it's better to have it done all at once too. I had mine done all at the same time and I paid about $1400 for it but my stripes were copper pearl ghost stripes. As hard as it might be I think you'll like it better.

I agree, waiting until you have all exterior upgrades installed and then striping it seems more logical. Only problem is I want a white exterior with blue stripes, driving around in performance white with no stripes isn't exactly my bag =/.

If you think about it, anything that you are going to add on to the car that needs to be painted like a hood or spoiler should not see the paint shop twice. I mean why paint and install a white hood, then go back later to have stripes put on? It would have to be prepped and cleared twice. Get your new goodies, then visit the body shop. Make sure they put at least 2 coats of clear over the new stripes, then wet sand and buff it so you don't feel the stripes.

Go vinyl for now, then when you've got all of your body mods, get the painted stripes :nice: That way you'll have your stripes now, with no worries of what you'll do down the line.

After look at an '06 in black I'm about |---| close to just say to heck with strips, and just go black. The only reason I was entertaining getting white was because it would have blue stripes - and I quickly realized I was merely white to compliment the blue stripes when it should be the other way around.

I wish they would make deeper factory paint colors and better quality - vista blue, torch red, grabber orange (lol), none of them do it for me  .
