There is a sound that appears to be coming from the intake...it sounds like air being sucked through a small area. It only starts when I hit 30 mph or higher.

I re-tightened everything...and still it is there.

Any ideas or is this normal?

This is the intake I got - http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/e...&rd=1&item=2479076074&sspagename=STRK:MEWN:IT

if it's kinda like a whooshing sound, it's normal, I'm rather annoyed by mine now.

That's the same kit that I have. The sound is normal. When I first start my car in the morning to go to work you can really hear the intake sucking in air. Just stand outside your car or roll down the windows when you start it up and you'll be able to hear it.

Ok, I'll learn to turn the stereo up or something. It just had me worried so I just wanted to make sure. Especially since I did it myself and this is the first time i've really gotten up close and personal under the hood.

Thanks guys.

I've got to agree with DcDisturbed947 I like the sound as well and with GT takeoffs I can hear the exhaust also. To me hearing your car is part of driving it. If it dosn't make any noise then you might as well be driving your grand daddy's buick.

yeah same here 97v6silver, mine whistles like crazy at certain RPMS, i dont mind it that much, but my friends think its awesome, that paired with my exhaust and it makes my car seem like a fricken beast. That being said most of my friends dont have cars yet, and one that does drives an 87' Mustang LX (inline 4) but he will be getting a 82-92 V8 camaro soon, the more competition the better... the other drives an older (69?) Dodge Aspen R/T, which is a beast... we love our muscle cars =D

If you got a TB spacer with your CAI like I did, then you would notice that the sound lasts alot longer through the RPM's and is constant when going anywhere over 70mph. After that, and several long drives, the loud stereo becomes a good friend.

I usually have my windows down and my stereo up, so I don't hear it too much. But when I first start my car, I hear it loud and clear.

Just installed my E-bay CAI on my Stang the other day, and this whistling sound is very loud!

With the windows up, it is loud. Not very irritating, but loud, and with the windows down it's barely noticeable.

I really like it.

I also had some sounds going on whenever I slowed down or hit the brakes, and found that I had air leaking out between my mass air and tube, as well as the blue cover being a little off on the mass air. Scared me at first, and I hope I fixed it so it doesn't come back.
