Well I came across a great deal Friday for a 93 ported Cobra intake, with a 1" spacer (which I did not use but kept) and the elbow adapter (which I think was integrated on the 93, it's not bolted on anyway) for $200. It only had 100 miles on the intake.

Well I picked it up Saturday, and picked up some miscellaneous parts Saturday, and a my friend and I installed it and a 180* thermostat Sunday. It took us a while but we didn't run into any major problems, except that we can't get the very front long bolt threaded for some reason. So we left it out for now, until we can figure out what to do about it.

Anyway, the intake is great, I'm not sure how much HP it actually added, maybe somebody could help me out there, but it sure pulls stronger now. 3rd gear is actually useful now! lol, 4th aint to shabby either. I took my friend for a ride in it and I think I scared him getting on the highway, cus I took it up to about 110 then shut it down. (There were NO other cars around as it was 10:30 at night. I can't wait to get back out to the track in December and see how it helped. Lemme know what ya think!

everything lined up ok??? like cruise control and throttle cables???

the reason i ask is because i'm thinking about doing the same and i've seen some pretty cheap 93 cobra intakes for sale.

post some pics when you can, i would like to see it.

Everything worked out great, the throttle cables and such were no problem. A couple of vacuum lines broke when I was taking off the stock intake, so I had to replace some, but everything lined up just fine except for the strut tower brace. The stock one won't fit over aftermarket intakes. I'll get some pics tomorrow and try and post them tomorrow night.

Okay I was looking at the flow ratings for the different intakes in the FAQ of 94-95. Out of the box the 93 Cobra makes 100.2 average CFM per sq. in. of air, which is the same as the Edelbrock. Considering my Cobra intake has been ported, how should it flow now as compared to the Edelbrock? Should it be about the same now or maybe a little better? :)

It sounds like you got a 94/95 Cobra intake. You would have had issues with the throttle, tps, and cruise control if it were a 93 Cobra. Did you say you DIDN'T need the elbow adapter? Pics would really help.

You say it's ported but you still have stock heads? I would consider throwing the 1" spacer on there. It could probably give you a little more down low and it shouldn't hurt anything up top. Just a thought....

Congrats on everything going smooth. That doesn't happen too often. :nice:

Well the dude said it was a 93 intake, which kinda didn't make sense because the inlet part of the intake was curved around, kinda like the elbow does. But I figured he knew what he was talking about, and I dont know much about the Cobra stuff, I was always a fan of the Edelbrock.

Yea, still got stock heads....... for now. :D I didn't think the spacer would fit? I removed the heat blanket, is it it possible? That'd be raw if it would, I would slap that thing on there tomorrow!

Yea I'm taking pictures after work and will post them late tonight around 2300 hours.

Hmmm...I don't know if it will or not. I've always assumed that it did.

The 1" spacer should fit but not without removing your hood blanket. It will still be tight. If you add the spacer then you will have to remove and plug, or modify your EGR tube.

How would I remove the EGR? If I plug up the holes into the manifold, what do I do with the sensors and everything?

So is it better than the factory intakes? Does it breathe a little better or not? It doesn't really matter since it's been ported, but I'm just curious.

Same thing as Factory 94-95 Cobra intake, just with a different plaque on top. Sold aftermarket through Ford Motorsport.
