hey guys...just wondering...before i go ahead and slap the lower on,what else do i need to do?i already,cleaned and sanded down the surface and put the intake to heads gaskets on.i have a 5.0 magazine that tells me it's best not to use the end cork rubber gaskets and to use this grey gasket maker by permatex,i already bought.whats up guys help me out here.thanks

The magazine article you talk about is correct however....(comma)... I've discovered that if the cork gasket is fayed with sealant on all sides, that they seal very well and proved some "meat" for the sealant to take hold of.
In other words:
Just sealant > cork gasket
Coated cork gasket > sealant alone (if applied properly)

Some other tips are:
Make sure you get all gasket debris out of your intake ports and lifter valley.
Use a non hardening sealer like edelbrocks gaskacinch on the head side of the gasket to hold it in place.
Buy 4 bolts the same size as your intake bolts and cut the heads off making them into studs. Install them in the 4 corner bolt holes of the head and use them to guide the lower intake straight down so you dont shift the gasket.
Use the RTV only for the end seals.
Follow the recommended torque sequence and ratings. When you get to the final rating, your going to have to run the sequence a few times before they are all set. I think it had to go over it about 8 times before all were set at the final value.

If you use just RTV, you should see it squished out a little at the front. If you can see this, I would venture to say that you will be ok. Its hard to see the rear, maybe if you use a flashlight and small mirror you could see it.
If you can, look down the intake ports into the intake ports on the head and see if you can see any gasket material or if it lined up good. Other than that, bolt it up and see what happens.
