What problems can I expect when installing a 98 Explorer intake on my 94 GT Vert \w AODE? Hearing the experiences of those that who have actually done this would be great! Are there any magazine articles that have covered this?

Can I use my current throttle body?

Any problems with throttle cable, trans. cables, or bracket mounting?

Are there any problems with the EGR tube length, PCV, or sensors?

Do I need to get a new strut tower brace?

I want to install GT-40P heads soon, will I have any trouble passing emissions tests in Metro-Atlanta?

Thanks.

Can I use my current throttle body?
Yes, although I would go bigger...

Any problems with throttle cable, trans. cables, or bracket mounting?
I'm unsure about trans. cables, however, all brackets and throttle cables will hook up correctly, provided you use the 94/95 intake adapter elbow.

Are there any problems with the EGR tube length, PCV, or sensors?
My EGR tube fit perfectly. Same with the PCV.

Do I need to get a new strut tower brace?
Well, you don't need one, but the stocker won't fit unless you cut and weld it a little bit

I want to install GT-40P heads soon, will I have any trouble passing emissions tests in Metro-Atlanta?
You should not since the GT-40P heads and Explorer manifold are all smog legal.

Thanks.
Yup.

Seriously, good info. Taking notes here but now I think after seeing the article 1990LXDropTop added up there I'm looking at a 93 Cobra intake pretty hard.

the only thing with the gt40ps is that they dont have the rear emmissions corssover tubs. dunno if it will affect the emmissions tho. yeah, and the strut tower, i tried to cut and weld it, it aint even close. Oh yeah, and with the trick flow sn95 elbow, take and port the inner of the explorer intake so its a smooth transition.

They're the same manifold. I wouldn't waste the extra money on the 93 Cobra just from a performance stand point. If you want it for looks, then that is something different.

The stock STB will fit. I know because I've done it. Of course, you can't just cut and reweld; you will need (about) another 6 inches of tubing. I bought 2 feet just to be on the safe side.

Also, the hardest part for me installing the manifold was rerouting all the vacuum lines. They do not hook up in the same spot as on the stock manifold. With this particular manifold, it doesn't matter which vacuum port you hook up where, as long as everything is hooked up correctly, the car will run fine.
