I want to take the 3:73's out of my mustang and put them in my lincoln is a 8.8 also.Could i just swap over the diff and shims and all and then obviously check everything over?Like make sure everything is in spec?

Im going with 4:10's in the stang and the lincoln has 3:27's kind of sucks to have those gears with such a heavy car.

If you swap one the carrier out of one housing into another there is no guarantee that the shim setup will be the same. There could be different tolerances between each housing that requires different shimming.

There are a couple of good write ups out there on how to install gears yourself.
I was going to do the 4.10s in my 93 but I ran out of time and needed them done right away.

The biggest thing is make sure that the wear pattern that you get in the gear marking compound is right on. If its not quite right take it apart and reshim it to get it right.
