Installing MAC cat-back...

My MAC cat-back and off-road X pipe just arrived and planning on installing it on Monday. I was looking through the brief instructions and it appears that it uses the old rubber muffler hangers, but I'm not 100% sure. Anyone know for sure before I tear my old exhaust off? Also, both the rubber mounts that held the hangers for my old tailpipes are gone, should i just replace all 4 rubber mounts at this time?(two that hold up the mufflers, two for the tailpipes). Thanks for any help.

Yeah Id replace them now while you're changing the exhaust. Make sure to get the serated washers to hold them on the hangars.

I got the MAC cat-back on my car. The install is very easy and it will clear stock or aftermarket upper control arms. I love the quick bolt on style!!! And it sounds mean!

Awesome. Did you have to replace the stock rubber insulator's on the hangers or were you able to salvage the old ones?

My car was a 4 cylinder, so I had to use used stock rubbers from my donor car. You can reuse them, if they are not already torn up. Squirt them with some WD40, it makes them easy to slide on and off the metal hanger. The tail pipes bolt to the tubes coming from the mufflers which are dumped over the axle. I left mine dumped over the axle for now, I love the way it sounds. I can install the tails in just a few short minutes if I want to change the sound.

The hangers that are for the tailpipes, the L-shaped bracket with the threaded sleeve, do those just fit into the rubbers on the stock hangers? I'm wondering if I need to buy new rubbers for the tailpipes or just for the mufflers.

Get ready for a mean sound. I had the mac system from the headers to the tips and man what a sound. On my new car I got 3" borla system and it sounds like poop. I want my macs back. And if its the cat back system you shouldn't have to change anything it should all bolt up just like it says it will.

i love my mac cat back heck ive had mine for over 5 years and it still sounds awsome i wouldnt own anything else now come to think about it its been oon my past 2 mustangs. goodluck with it b.c they are so suddle too

We just did the MAC shorties,PRO CHAMBER,and flow paths out back,I love our MAC set up.

The stuff bolts together real nice,and clears the trailing arms well,and there is a ton of adjustment on those tips.

If your missing the rubber hangers,or their worn I'd replace them,do the job right the first time.

Well I installed it today, went on beautifully once I got the old system pulled out(sheathed a header stud, took us a while to get that out). I love the sound. It's fairly low key at idle, but when I step on it, it screams. Quite a noticeable increase in power as well. All I can say is that I'm very happy with the sound, looks and ease of install of this system. I'd recommend it to anyone!
