installing my MGW..can't get my center console out

I thought I'd put the MGW in and I got the armrest off and the screws at the back of the console and the two on each side at the front. But I can't seem to get the console to pop out . Am I missing something here is there more screws at the fron that I can't see.

there are some taht go up into the glove compartment i think and under the insturment panel. maybe you missed those? Or how about the oval things you pop out at the back you might have missed those too. Good luck.

The back is ready to come out. The front I took 4 screws out the 2 beside the glove box where the gas door and the hatch popers are and the 2 on the driver side (in the same location as the other side)

why are you taking the console out? i know its been a while, but when i put my hurst in, i just popped the square plastic thing off, and the boot, then unbolted the 4 screws on that heat plate jobbie, then took the 4 bolts loose, pulled the old shifter out, then put new silicone on there, then stuck the new one in.. is the MGW alot bigger or something?

and the stupid instructions are showing a SN and all they need to do is pop off the boot and bezel

on that plate the front screws are under the radio part of the center console

I didn't pop off my center consol to instally my MGW. For me it was a great excuse to use my new ratchety open ends at the time. A little tight but they work great.

Yep, just that little black square... the 86 and lower you have to take the whole console out but not yours Roland... go put it back together

i had to get a small wrench in there to get mine out.. but it is do-able... dont blame me if you get cut like i did.. that little gold plate is a sharp mofo

Some Stangs you can get away with just removing the shifter bezel and boot, others are not so fortunate. I've had both.

It's been a while, but aren't there also two sheet metal screws behind the radio compartment area on the outside of the console?

Yes there is, coming in from the sides.

Yep, they go through a metal bracket attached to the console into a metal "U" shaped bracket mounted to the floor.

At least you don't have an 05+

You have to crawl under the car and lower the transmission down to change that shifter

whenever you put the gold plate with rubber back in, Leave the front 2 bolts out, makes for easy shifter swaps and fluid changes. wont have to remove the console.
