Installing Rockers - Zero Lash Question

I just installed my rockers (Comp Pro Magnum 1.6's). I followed the installation procedure, set to zero lash (rotating the pushrod) and then tightened another 1/2 turn. My question is this. After I tighten the additional 1/2 turn, I can't rotate the pushrod anymore with my fingers, which makes sense. But after turning the engine over my hand a couple times during the course of installing all the rockers, I went back and was able to rotate the pushrods again with my finger, wich tell me they have loosned. Is this normal and OK, or do I need to correct something? Thanks.

completely normal geometry has changed since you last rotated, just do a warmed up final check and your in the clear

Sorry, but could you elaborate a little bit. Do I need to retighten them, so just make sure my geometry is OK and do a final check? Thanks again.

Did you prime the motor before you did the adjust???

once you prime the motor it should tighten up.

if not go back and check adjustements.

That sound right to me. They got loose after any extra oil in the lifter was bleed off. As long as you set them according to the manufacturers specs you shouldn't need to readjust them for quite a while.

You prime the oil pump by putting a 5/16 (I think) socket on it and just giving it a spin. That way the oil will make it up to the rockers.

If you got pedestal rockers arms you should tighten them to specs. your doing what it calls for stud mount rockers arms

He has stud mount rockers. I don't see why if would make a difference if you prime the pump whether you have pedestal mount or stud mount.

Well when you prime the engine, the lifters will get pumped up with oil. When they are not pumped up, the pushrod cam be pushed into the lifter. Thats why they seem so lose. After the engine is primed, the lifters will tighten up and u can check/re-adjust.

are you adjusting the intake and exhaust rockers 1 at time? and you should use tread lock and tighten between a 1/2 turn to 1 full turn. especally if you use AFR's.
