Intake/coolant/ps pump questions

hey all,
today just out of random motivation i though i could pull my top end apart again to retrq my lower manifold,pull off my valve covers to strip them of there chipping paint job,and replace a whining and leaking ps pump....... got top intake of in 15mins(after my rookie arse took one of the coolant hoses that goes to the tb off while the car coolant was pressurized and hot, so i have a burnt hand now!)

i then spent a 1.5-2hour on replacing the ps pump. i removed the radiator do this, and went faily smoothly but i want some tips on how to get the air out this thing and or recommendations on fluid, i was told to use synthetic atf fluid(same thing) but i just want something that is affordable and good...the car had the original ps pump on it and it worked fine but it was just leaking and whining too much to my liking..

also this is my concern. my coolant which is not old is appearing burnt orange with mild green(lol i know poor description but you get the point).....i use prestone or w/e which is bright green. and cannot see the coolant looking this bad after barely any usage.....what cold be the culprit...

The coolant may be discolored from the radiator or rust in the system.
Normally on the power steering I fill it with fluid and turn the wheel all the way to full lock doing this in both directions several times and it will bleed its self of any air.

Fill the pump up, start the car, and turn the wheels lock to lock to bleed the air out. Recheck the fluid level and repeat this process 2 or 3 times.

ok easy enough...

im having fun cleanig these valve covers. i guess the paint did stick pretty well in some area.....but oh well....have any of you guys had luck with putting stickers on the valve covers? i was thinking of going and getting some ford or 5.0 stickers from the custom graphics stand at the mall would cost lke 10.00 total and be a little decorative but i dont know how it will hold up in the heat?

I polished my valve covers after I took the paint off.Then I sold them and bought Cobra covers.

well i cleaned them an applied two coats of clear, they look pretty good actually. and they still look good after being installed where and when grease comes into play. i like this way better cause they are better looking than an old high mileage stock set but also have a "i care about my engine bay on a budget look"....

someone told me that cobra v convers wont work with 1.7's, but i thought all 94-95 cobras had 1.7's and my gt40 are 95 cobra heads and the 1.7 are crane cams which i also believe is stock on cobras.

ps. anyone put stickers excuse me i mean man decals on there valve covers. i got a cool idea to put something on mine....but idk with the clear coat and all

I am budget minded on project daily driver as well. I also did some painting while I had mine apart. Its amazing how much nicer things can look.

wut did you use to clean the engine bay? I been wanting to clean mine also.
