My brother is wanting to install an intake manifold on his 96 Gt vert next. Although i really haven't seen intake manifolds out there for sale for the 4.6l's. What kind of intakes are out there? How much are they and what websites are they at? I want to start lookin now soo when the end of the summer comes i'm going to install it.

Thanks alot

Matt

if he has the stock heads, he should replace those with PI heads and a PI intake.

He is likely talking about what's known as a upper plenum or elbow. These are offered by C&L, Trickflow, Accufab, Mac and Dragon. They bolt on top of the manifold and the TB bolts onto the plenum/elbow.

So you are meaning the "lower" intake? The 4.6 is not the 5.0 as far as choices for replacement (lower) intakes go. As twogts4us said, lots of upper intake choices. For now, all we have for us 96-98s are the PI intake (good bang for the buck) or the FRPP one (expensive!). There is a Bullitt one developed for 99+, but don't know of anyone that has tried it on a 96-98 NPI headed model.

You'd have to have PI heads first, then there are just a couple choices, but these are mainly high RPM, high power performers (I think you'd be very disappointed to spend these big bucks and come away with, at best, minimal gains) But here are some websites:

He can also try contacting the guys at Modular Depot www.modulardepot.com
He can also try contacting Randy Stinchcomb at Modular Depot under the Ford Parts forum as well.

Actually, you don't have to have the PI heads first. You could bolt the PI intake to the NPI heads. The gaskets don't match up perfectly, but with some RTV, you should have no trouble sealing it up (unless it is forced induction).
