Your gonna spend 1100 on the heads and another 500 or so on the intake, why dont you just go with the Holley systemax top end kit or the trickflow top end kit, this will give you everything you need and you wont have to piece together things and you will get the most power this way. prolly save money as well

do you have heads on your car?

I vote the TFS top end kit but sell the cam off and get a custom, the TFS1 does the job but theres much more to be had out of the heads and intake in the kit in the cam department. The intake/heads flow much higher than the TFS1 cam pulls to.

Here was my TFS kit the day I got it, really a great buy.

btw just for fun, this is the difference between a stock intake and an edelbrock RPM2

The holley systemax intake is by far one of the sickest intakes out there. My next intake will either be the systemax or the new RPM II. That also looks like a real quality intake that can support some extra revs and cubes.

i thnk the stock 5.0 intake and cobra look very similar but besides the circular stagured ports on lower , wats the difference in design how much more power???? cause i thought the fox cobra was only like twenty more horse stock than a 5oh????? if that

The fox cobra makes about 275 hp. They were horribly underated from the factory.

The gt-40 lower is significantly different from the stock lower. The stock lower has horrible air distribution as cylinders 1 and 5 get less air than the rest due to a curvy port. The Gt-40 lower is pretty capable...especially when ported. I think a well ported gt-40 lower outflows the eddy and trick flow lowers IIRC.

If you've already got the heads, then I'd vote for a ported Explorer intake over a Chinese Cobra intake, unless you can get a genuine USA-made Cobra intake - the Chinese ones have some pretty crappy casting quality, from what I've read. The Typhoon would also be a good pick, but you might want to clean/polish it up a bit inside. You could go for more, but I'm all about the cheapness.

If cost is no object and you haven't got the heads, already, then a TrickFlow top-end kit would probably be the best way to go. Everything's there, and all made to match.

Not sure what your end power goals are. For GT40X heads, I think you'd do just fine finding yourself a used eddy performer or trick flow street heat for $250-$300.
