Interesting info on Boomtubes

Well, I called Dan at pacificaperformance the next day and told him about the clamps. The claps in the kit were very thin would flex when I tightened them to the point to which it would not turn anymore. The muffler shop used an airgun and it still would not hold. Dan told me my kit had the wrong clamps and is sending me new ones (thicker) tomorrow.

Patrick, thanks for the help, the drive wasn't too bad except there were a lot of CHP radar cars and airships along the last 30 miles. It's funny because as I got the the shop, he told me one of his drivers had a delivery 10 miles from my house and left just a few minutes before I arrived. Oh, well.

Grey Diesel, about the dead horse issue (jk). Do you have pics, how to for the front footwells. What location exactly and how much of an area is to be covered? Sorry if it's a dumb question, but did you pull back on the carpeting/remove any peices? Thanks.

I did pull back the carpeting. It was not a "professional" job, I just sort of pulled at it around the edges and it came up. I was not able to get great access to the steel floor of the car, but good enough access to get about 2 square feet of dynamat placed down. Once you pull the carpet, you'll see some factory sound deadening that was placed in strips on the footwell floor, I put the dynamat between these strips. I just held the carpet up while placing the dynamat, otherwise I would have had to remove big parts of the center console. I only had 4 square feet of the stuff left by the time I tackled the footwells, so that is all I placed. I could have (would have) put more if I had it. You can cover a good deal of the footwell area just by holding the carpet up. This is sort of where the undercarriage spray sound deadener idea came from, as that would just be a lot easier, and I think it may be important to focus on the area directly under the seats, which you cannot access unless you take out the seats. I am just guessing at that though, and my previous guesses of the trunk and back seat were fairly pointless. Long story short, yes, just pull up the carpet from behind the pedals first, then around the edges of the door sill. The passenger side is easier.

Resurrecting the old post for a video. I have been meaning to make a vid of the boom tubes for awhile, and just around to it today. So add another vid to the you tube library of boom.
