Intermittant wipers on classics?

I've been thinking about rigging up something to make my 67's wipers intermittant and maybe have an electronic washer. Not sure if it's been discussed before, I found nothing on thread searches. There might even be an aftermarket retrofit, but the tinkerer in me wants to figure something out. It can't be tacky like a sprinkler timer ziptied to the column, will need to blend with the dash.
I've got a few ideas, anyone have experiences with this?

do a search on Mustang intermittent wipers. You can take the system from an 80's Ford pickup and adapt it I believe...
