Internals upgrade question

I've some-what just started to look a little more deeply into building a forged internal setup so I can get some more power, safely.

I see completely balanced and blueprinted shortblocks, and then I see rotating assemblies.


Which is the better way to go? How much would you speculate the cost of installing it and have it balanced and all locally, as opposed to just ordering a shortblock.


My feelings are that my block is fine, why should I jump for another one? Is there something I'm missing?

if your a do it yourself kinda guy,prefer to do it your self then a rotating assy is okay.if you are not doing the work then go with the shortblock.yes your block is good,but by the time you spend for a machine shop to bore/hone,clean,align bore,check deck,assemble etc it would be cheaper

The block is the cheap part. The expensive part is the rods, pistons, crank, and all the block prep, etc. Order a built shortblock from Modular Powerhouse. This way, you can also sell your stock shortblock or keep it as a spare in case you ever decide to go back to stock.

Gotcha, thank you guys.

I'll be upgrading shortly. Now the decision comes down to whether I should jump for VT Engines, or MMR.


I like them both, the VT comes standard with arp bolts, and all that..

What do you guys think?


The goal is 450-500 on a 1.7 KB, with cam, eventually.

Get a Pro-Line engine from Modular Powerhouse. If you don't want to install it yourself, drive up to Atlanta and get MPH to do the swap for you.

I thought MPH sold VT Engines. Didn't they used to atleast?

I have the VT Sportsman Shortblock and love it, its good 750 rwhp and the quality was great. Im sure the MPH Block is great too, nothing crappy has really ever come come from MPH so Im sure either one would be great.

MMR or VT know their sh1t. I would trust a shortblock from them, versus joe shmoe in your town, that builds engines.

The MMR900 is around 3 grand, and will handle an ass load of power
