IRS/Live Axle Swap

Hey I want to swap in a 89 8.8 into my 01 cobra can it be done any sugg. will be helpful!!!!!!

Its the same car as the live axle version so yeah it can be done. However, the SN95 has a wider wheelbase I think. You're probably gonna need the wider axle for starters. I remember something about it being only 3/4" wider on each side though (1 1/2" total), so with wider wheels you may make it look alright. Now I'm not real sure on this like I said. And beyond the fact that it will fit I don't know what has to be changed...

I would think the easiest thing to do is to find someone with a newer GT and put the cars side by side and swap -- you can probably do an even trade (or even make some money!) and you know you'll have every part you need.

That year will NOT work.

You need a 99+ rear axle.

Reason, the mounting bolts in the control arms are 12mm for the 79-98 and 14mm for the 99+ cars.

Plus the width issues. Get a 99+ axle
