I just took my motor out of my car becasue it had low compression on 2 cylinders. It had just been rebuilt.I thought it was a stock 289 with a .030 bore.I tore it apart and found out that it's a 302 with 351 heads, roller rockers, and has been bored out .060 over.Is .060 to much?Iv heard old mechanics tale's that if you bore anything .060 or higher it'll run hot and you cant bore it out more than .060.

.060" is about the furthest that a 302 can be overbored (I've heard of .065").
You shouldn't have any problems.

The cylinder walls are quite thin on the 302 from the factory. I know a guy that recently dropped a valve and sent the valve throught the cylinder wall, I was suprised how thin it was. 60 would be pushing it, any more would be getting really thin.

I have a .060 over 302 but it's a 69 302 block without any over heating problems with the limited street miles that i do drive the car,but my buddy has a.060 over 91 block and he have no issues what so ever with his 310 cid.

.060 is probably a bit much...

semi-interesting :OT: story....

I was working at Advance Auto Parts and one day this crackhead looking guy came in, wanting to buy some carb float scales. His story was that he was balancing the floats on a Holley 1100 double pumper he was putting on a Ford 460 bored .120" over...I thought "Yeah, and your brain is bored .120" over...here's your pot scales!"
