well im in south cali and its 95 here today, i went to the store and with the a/c on my autometer temp gauge goes to like 218 and doesent cool from there, the a/c was at max and it was on the street, i thought my fluidyne was goint to take care of that problem! could it be the underdrive pullies? or is it just going to run hot regardless? will 220 blow a head gasket? whats the hottes i should let it get? when its not this hot outside it rarely goes past 200 or 180 with max a/c plus i have a 180 t-stat

The fan will kick on at 212 without the AC on. With the AC on it kicks on at 205 I believe. The underdrive pulleys will make it heat up more. 220 isnt overheating by far, but it is still warmer than the car is made to run. A lot of new cars run around 230 to allow for better emissions.

I had a GT that did that all the time. No big deal. The only way to rectify that is to get a computer chip, and tell the fan to kick on earlier, or get a manual fan switch.

No matter the temp, my car never goes over 189. The fan is on a lot, but at least the car is cool.

the fan should come on any time the a/c is on, AFAIK.

manual fan switches might help - Shane has nice schematics for doing that. :nice:

with iron heads, those temps are not too hot, but we dont like to be there, do we?

i would worry about detonation with those temps (or starting in on preignition).

once on the highway, does it cool down decently? if not, is the stock air dam dealie (chin spoiler) still there? it helps scavenge air across the coil.

good luck.

Id take off the underdrive pully for the water pump and run the stock one during the really hot months. It is causing your water pump to run slower thus cutting down on how well it cools. Most of the time its not noticeable but when you get into really hot areas such as where you are it can have an effect.

PS. Where the hell is Rancho Cucamonga Ca ? Sounds more like Mexico then then US. Mexiforina :D

I have heard that Pro-M makes an adjustable elec. fan control. I can find any info on it for the life of me. Does anyone have one or know someone who has one??
the big daddy of them are:
www.DcControl.com

one can get a variable controller at the parts store or online, depending upon how you want to do it.
Didn't Pro M just reopen under new (well, the old) people? They might not be back up to full speed with all their products.

good luck.

my little chin spoiler thingy is no longer there because of the lowering but when i am on the highway it does cool down to 200 unless im going up a steep hill or haulin' ass ...
ranch cucamonga is in southern cali not mexico hahaha.

it sounds like you dont really want it, but you can get a new chin spoiler for 12 bucks from the dealer or a resto house (just did that on the 94 - previous owner had 'removed' it for me - car is lowered as well). :)
