is 29,000 miles too many?

thinking about buying a very nice 07gt, its a 1 owner car, 28,750 miles, the owners 1st mod was 4.10s and a high stall torque converter, right after he bought it, its got some exhaust mods too, its a 2007 gt, in 09 he had a vortec supercharger installed, its seen the track quiet a few times, 11.79 car, i like it very much but after the test drive i can hear a noise from the blower, kind of like a rattiling noise? then it goes away, its got a low boost and tune . the owner says it should go lotts of miles left, i dont know much about the 4.6s would you guys think he.s right? hate to buy it and have to put a new motor and blower in it, he is asking 22,000 for it. the car is really mint .

That's a lot for an 07gt. If u pay 22k for it u might as well grab a base gt for 29 IMO. And 29k miles is very low seeing as an average driver puts 12-15k a year on a vehicle.

Not sure about the rattling on the supercharger. Someone else can chime in an help u better than I with info on that

most nice 07s are going for that price up here, all stock, the owner has been a member on here for a long time, all the mods were installed by the ford dealer he works at, just worried about all the quarter miles its got on it, i will buy it if you guys think the motor will last another 30,000 miles, i will never race it, only be a weekend driver. i thought about the 11 but 35,000 too much, this one is the priemum model, nicelly loaded.

and if it all was installed by the ford dealer then maybe its under warranty also.

Sounds a bit high for my area. You can get newer cars for about the same, at least that is what I am seeing.

I don't know what area you're in but that sound a little high for an 07, even with a high dollar mod (blower). He said it has a low boost and a tune right now, hard to tell what it had over the past 4 years because it sounds like he made it a drag car from day 1 with 4:10s and a stall converter. Many passes down the quarter mile tweaking stuff, hard shifts, changing parts.... I would stay away. Personally, I would find one close to stock and modify it to fit yourself.

Id pay $20k if it was Factory Stock in near mint condition. But the
Vortec, stall convertor, 410's are big red flags.

I paid just over $26,000 for a brand new loaded 2008 GT. As for the 4.6, I hated it when it first came out but I now own two of them and they are great engines; 28,000 miles is nothing.

My gut would tell me to pass. Whenever someone has installed mods that were probably installed for the track, I would steer clear. Usually when someone dumps over 5k in track oriented mods it means those 29k miles were rough. I'd pass and see if you can find another GT. I just bought a 2005 GT Convertible with only 5k original miles for 17k. It was bone stock, but thats what I wanted.

Of course there is the chance that the Stang was not beat on, but you just don't know. Buying used Mustangs are a trick business, because they are either well maintained or just beat on.

Shop around. I think you can get a good car for less and then mod it yourself.
A little more money and you can buy new.

mabye i should, but iam retired , looking for a nice 05 to 08 gt already modded up the right way, this car is a lott faster then the new 5.0. he really took nice care of it, its at the ford dealership where he works, i,ve been down there 3 times now test driving it, the only prob. i see is the vortec some times is making a sound when its ideling is kind of a bearing or the pully making a sqicking sound, other then that the car runs just like new. sure a fun street car with the 4.10s and vortec.

no offense man but an 05-09 gt with a tune and a vortec running low boost isn't a lot faster than a 5.0. maybe a little bit but look at what is done to the car to barely beat a stock 5.0. honestly 22,000 is a bit high down here in louisiana for that year of car even with a blower. a vortec is what 5000 and its used and it has a sound that u r worried bout.

if u want to stick around the 22,000 mark u can get a base v6 and probably talk the dealer down to 19k and use the extra and throw a sc or turbo set up on it ya know. but thats just my opinion. new v6 with a blower that u pay for and u can trust without worrying bout squeaking sounds or any use at the track. gotta weigh all the options ya know but thats how i think

i have a 12 gt. of course i wanted a cobra but i dnt havethe money for that nor to pay the insurance and i'm only 27. so i got a base gt with 3.73 gears for roughly 28k and can add my own blower for 7k or so which brings my total to 34k and the insurance company doesnt know and itll easily beat the **** out of a cobra ya know. i just look at things like that

I paid 17k for my 07 GT this past October and she had just over 29,000 miles on her. She was bone stock when I bought her.

Funny, in the original post the OP was wanting to be talked out of it but it seems that regardless of many many valid points he refuses to be talked out of it. Ah well. Hope it works out and you enjoy it!
