This local guy, who is well known for building stalls, told me he could upgrade my stock one to 2200 for $125. Is it worth it? My rear main seal has to be replaced so the tranny is coming off anyway. It will run hotter but I already have a tranny cooler. Also, I know the power for stangs doesn't really start until the 2700s or so, but I will have 4.10s installed and they will help me get up there easily. So, what do you all think, it's a lot cheaper and since I'm keeping stock heads and cam, and this is my daily driver I was hoping it'll be alright. Am I missing something?

Edge stalls:
2500stall -> $400
3000stall -> $600

Edge or PI would probably recommend a 2700 stall for the mods you have.

Yep, they(EDGE) told me to not go lower than 2800 which in their case is $600, I just wanted a non-bias opinion from the guys on here.

I've heard nothing but good things about the edge stalls. GCOMFX had great luck with his and I will be getting one within the next yr. PI are great also but run a couple hundred more than the edge ones. IMO a 2200 wouldnt be much help considering you can brake stall up to about 2000 anyway.

If you plan on camming the car or putting cylinder heads on it, I would wait and do the stall after everything is done. A mismatched converter on a powerful combination makes for a poorly running car.

If you want performance and 5 speed happiness your only hope is a stall that'll pop you back in your seat on launch. Just like when you launch a 5 speed at 2,800+.

Get a 3,000 stall and have a pray about being happy.... I'm afraid if you get a 2,200 you won't be THRILLED and always regret throwing away the money to upgrade the AODE and not converting to a 5 speed.

No offense, but why so many posts about a stall? It's hard to keep up with all of them. And Joe is right, if you are going to change your combo SOON... wait until then to get a stall made.

don't waste ur time on 2200 stall like i did. i bought it from B&M and i didn't like it at all. i bought a GER anti-balloon 3000 stall. i love it so much.

with 2200 my best 60 ft was 1.94 best
with 3000 my best 60ft is 1.65 with the same tires and suspension.

Thanx for all the replies, and I don't plan to upgrade heads or cam anytime soon. I just want to have a fast car on street and strip, even though it'll hardly see the strip, just for braggin rights on the street. So the overall verdict is keep my money and buy the EDGE 3000 stall?

PS. I decided to create another thread on the stalls cause the other one kind of died out when I asked the same question.

So the 3000 stall it is. I've heard that with a manual valve body, a chip is useless since it doesn't control the shifts, so what would be better, manual valve body or chip? Chip is $300 and I don't know about the manual valve body.
