I want to know if it normally for my 1999 GT auto vert to chirp tiers at 50mph with just a few mod's

I was getting onto 422 near my house and one thing I love to do is give the Stang some gas when I get onto the on ramp and at about 50mph the tiers chirp, I was kind of thinking is that normally for a auto GT to do that, so I thought I would ask you guys.

A little info on the car if this helps. I purchased its from a friend that’s works at a local speed shop, he had a GT and his wife had a v6 vert, he crashed his GT then he changed every thing from the GT to the v6,!!!so his wife didn't want a GT so I purchased it for $3,500 and the GT only had 70,000 miles …I thank his wife all the time….. because I love this car!! SORRY FOR LONG THREAD! :SNSign:

Was it on a curve, or wet out? I'ts possible to break 'em loose yea but I wouldn't thing a npi auto vert(nothing against the car) would chirp them at 50, then again what do I know.

Mine would chirp them on the 1-2 shift (automatic) back when my car was NA. Now, I can't get traction anywhere in 1st gear, and it'll bark the 2-3 shift

As can loose sand, going up hill, weather conditions such as ambient temp and humidity.

The chirp was probably belt squeal...

Tiers are good….so I will take a look at the tranny fluid, if that’s good I will have to retry to see if it does it again

So, the car is actually a v6 with GT drivetrain? Did he swap the rear end over as well? It could just be the open rear diff that the V6s got making it happen, or if you still have the big balloon sixer tires. I've seen a few bone stock 4R70W cars squawk second with little effort, like any MN12 car with a V8. Or, it could in fact be a massive belt squeak happening on the hard shift. My old belt would do that, and it almost sounded like a blowoff valve.

Is it normal

So I guess its not normal for the car to chirp at 50mph,but it wasn't the belt I had the top down and I heard it pretty good. Yes the car was a v6 but every thing from the GT was swicted over into the the v6 and I mean every thing, except for the bumper

First of all, your car is not a GT.

Second, my car chirps 1-2 even with moderate acceleration. If I really romp on it, it sometimes barks 2-3 (although not nearly as loud as the 1-2 bark).

with my winter tires on the 88, it can break the tires loose from a roll up to 75mph. The tires are just to keep the car off the ground when i put the nittos in storage, and are bald and hard. Given a poor combination, anything is possible, including a stock v8 barking at 50mph. So I wouldn't think anything of barking at 50mph except that you need better tires or suspension. With the nittos, i can only bark the 1-2 shift, and absolutely no tire spin from a roll.

He may have done the J mod or used a hand held tuner on the computer. Eaither of those mods will raise the shift firmness enough that the car would bark its tires going into second at WOT. My Mark barks them going into second more often then not and I only have a tune. My 2000 GT vert was an auto and on days when the weather was below 80 it would bark them going into second and that car was 100% stock.
