yea this is the second time i red lined the cra pout of it with out hitting the limiter. the limiter was never changed, i bought the car brand new, 6600 rpm and i didnt hit it. somthing is not right . i posted about this a long time ago, the last time i reved too high. im scared i did damage now.

Maybe you have a DOHC motor in there. Ford's playing a dirty trick on you by sticking the the 32V instead of the 16V ;)

I made a comment like that before, knowing that I reved past where the rev limiter should be and never hit it. I got a reply that the tach is not truely correct and when you think you're going that car its really not. I dunno how true that is but I finally did hit my limiter learning how to do a burnout at the drag strip so I know it exists.

For normal driving (just going around town) I try to shift 2500 or less for best gas mileage. At the track I try to shift no later than 5500, because I'm powershifting and when I do that the rpms rev up a bit when I shift and I don't want to hit the limiter.

haha i hardly ever see UNDER 2k rpm, gotta love 4.10s!

 :stupid: 2K in 4th is 37MPH and 2K in 5th is about 55MPH. If you do the dreaded double downshift to 3rd at 55MPH and you don't blip the throttle, then mash it when you let the clutch out, you'll chirp your tires.

Guys, whats the limit i should shift this car at? This is my 1st car and also my 1st manual car :rlaugh: Whenever i get to drive it.. i usually shift @ 2k for EVERY single shift =( I was told not to go above 2k and when i went to 2500RPM i was told to bring it back down. So thats right.. i shift 1-5 @ 2k and its stays stable @ 2k while crusing in 5th gear down the highway. So is it safe to shift stock mustangs @ higher rpms or would i need mods to shift higher.

=( Sorry, im such a noob @ manuals and stangs. :flag: :owned:

P.S. and no the person telling me to shift @ 2k is not doing sayin it for my saftey.. he also shifts @ 2k while driving the car by engine raising with the ear. :spot:
:rlaugh: :rlaugh: :rlaugh: :rlaugh:

Get into the damn thing a little! You have not even driven the car yet. Most of the power is up top in the rpm band. :nice:

i shift around 2100-2500 for each gear, can't be under 1500rpms or it bogs the living hell out of the entire car :(
 you bought the car to drive,.... drive the damn thing. If you wanted to drive it like that you should have bought a station wagon. :stupid:

when normal driving you should shift at 2500-3500 thats "Normal" to save you gas and to make the engine last a bit longer. when racing , go as high as you want/can :nice:
