A lower 60ft time will actually lower your trap speed as well?

A good friend of mine who is very knowledgeable told me that a higher 60ft time usually results in a higher trap speed and vice versa...

Is that true? It seems like the opposite to me at-least according to my time slips...

Accelleration as a function of time increases. At the end of a given amount of time, you'll reach a higher speed.

Accelleration as a function of distance decreases. So you cover more ground quicker than you gain speed as compared to a run with a slower 60'.

Distance is limited. Thus, speed at the end is lower.

Say after 2.1s (your old 60' time) your car generally hits about 45mph. Now you run the 60' in 1.9s. You are quicker, but you don't reach 45mph until about the 80' mark. You get to the 60' mark, and thus the end of the track, too soon for your car to get up to the speed it was reaching before.

I wonder if, when I wake up in the morning, this will make sense.

Great explanation. I already knew all that, but you put in into words perfectly. Don't think I've seen a better explanation. Good job.
