I saw a thread on the corral that said factory struts are 70/30 and factory rear shocks are 50/50, and not to waste the money on the Lakewood versions because we already have them. The discussion continued but neither side could "prove" their case. Anyone here know the truth? Also, would that same argument hold true for any "stock" replacement strut / shock combo like say KYB's?

If you still have the factory shocks and struts, you will def. benefit from upgrading. Replacing any piece that old and worn out is worth it, even if replacing with the same rate components. I have Tokico HP Blues - they are a hell of a lot different than the stock '93 components were. Just my $0.02.

My Lakewoods are nothing like stock. I really don't care what another thread may have to say about the subject. There is no comparison. I you do the switch you will know what I mean.

Yea since my lakewood install. It is nothing like factory stuff. YOU will notice the differance.

I seem to recall reading that the factory struts and shacks are 50/50. But i can't offer proof of where I read it.

I emailed the tech department at Lakewood and asked if they knew anything about factory stuff being 70/30 and 50/50. Here is their response:

"The stock struts are more of a 60/40 and the rears are pretty close to a 50/50. It will vary depending on the make of the car. But we are not aware of a factory 70/30 strut anywhere on the market. Thank you."
