Hey everyone. I've pretty much got my mind set on picking up a '99-'02 Cobra engine from karkraft.com and I was wondering if anyone has had any experience (positive or negative) or issues with that company. I'm looking at getting one of the used Cobra engine with 3000-6000 miles on it. Especially since I'm not buying brand new, I want to know if there's anything I should look out for with Kar Kraft. If you have anything, please let me know. Thanks as always.

I have ordered assorted small parts from them before, always with good luck, although shipping may be a bit slow (on average 3-4 days later then I would expect for same day shipping). I have no idea about something as expensive as an engine though. On a side noteI did read an interesting article online a few months back by someone that bought a very special, very cheap 4.6 DOCH cobra engine from them a few years back, the funny thing was the engine was completely dissasembled, aparently Kar Kraft had bought a number of Ford engineering test engines, that had been ran in assorted ways, the taken apart for study.

I bought my 03 cylinder heads and 99 cobra intake manifold from them, I also have a front cover on its way also. No complaints, slow on shipping, most of the stuff on my intake manifold was prototype ford components. I'll find out later on next week when I get my new engine up and running if the parts are quality or not.

There are two different versions of the mach 1 engine due to the option of the auto trans. The manual trans version has the forged steel 8 bolt crank with a 6,800rpm redline, the auto version has the cast iron 6 bolt crank with a 5,800rpm redline. That is why the auto version is pretty cheap.

The automatic version of the mach 1 engine does not have the forged crank.

Thanks everyone. The whole forged/cast crankshaft deal is why I changed my mind on the Mach 1 engine.
