Hello All,

I just bought this car.

The car has an MSD 6BTM mounted but not hooked up.

I will eventually get around to hooking it up.

My ? is: How important is it to have the MSD working on a charged car & do you really need it?

The car seems to run strong without it.

Thanks for your input.

The 6BTM has an adjustable boost/timing retard function to allow you to adjust timing based on manifold pressure. This in turn will allow you get more aggressive with your timing yet prevent detonation under load. If its there, you'd be leaving a lot of power and safety on the table without running it.

That being said, if you still choose not to run it, there's no sense having it mounted there in the first place. You're shortening its life span with the bouncing around, heat/cooling cycles and unnecessarily exposing it to moisture. Its kind of one of those **** or get off the pot things.
