My goal for my car is to put down 300rwhp with the stock heads and no boost of any kind.

After this monday my car (94 Cobra) will have :

-o/r H and flows
-cold air intake
-u/d pulleys
-70MM tb
-E-cam
-trickflow upper/lower
-dynotune
(those are only the horsepower mods- i also have a shifter and gears)

I think that will get you to maybe the 260hp mark.

I think your goal of 300hp with only those mods isn't very realistic. Not even close if you're looking for 300rwhp. You'd need to heavily port the stock heads, and a custom cam would probably be the only way to get you there, and I'd have to say that'd only be at the flywheel. My estimate with those mods would be a little lower than mootang's, somewhere in the neighborhood of 250hp at the flywheel.

Maybe make it up with GEARS like 4.30's and a lot of traction...oops I see you have 3.90's..maybe get some lower control arms and real sticky tires. That's my next upgrade. If I could get better traction with my gears I would fly!

you mean at the rear wheels right? It is a cobra and not a GT. If you could change the trickflow intake to an RPMII or similar, you'd receive better gains up top. the cam is also pretty mediocre (potential power) compared to a custom grind. Assuming an excellent dyno tune and your car is in prime operating shape you might hit 265rwhp...with the RPMII and a custom cam you could probably come close to 285rwhp

I don't think you'll hit 300rwhp but 250-260 is low. The motor in my car is a cobra motor with e cam. A lot of people are running the same combo and put down close to 270rwhp and if you tune it right, you might get close to 280. But in order to achieve 300, you'll need to get the GT40-p head(ported, polished, 3-angle valve job), custom cam, and just port the trickflow intake.

Yeah, I dropped the ball on that one. I wasn't paying attention, and was thinking this was with E7 heads...

stock cobra longblock is probably gooing to put a max of 270-275 with long tubes, underdrives, electric wp, cai, tb, smog pump delete, maybe ps delete and tuned to the max. to get 300 i would say ported heads and a cam would do it

the cam and intake are going in and the car is being dyno-tuned tomarro. I will let you guys know how it turned out. I'm hoping for around 275rwhp. Once I get some more money rounded up i'll do the LT's, the prochamber, and a mass air.

With ported heads and upgraded springs, and a really high duration cam, I bet you could get to the 300rwhp mark. I think you might have to spin the motor to 6k to do it, but you could get there.

I don't think you would have a very wide powerband though. But if you want to simply get the dyno sheet, and not make the car fast, you can get there.

sorry about the long wait, there were several delays and I JUST got the car dyno'ed this morning. It made 280rwhp and 312 rwtq. Not bad at all in my opinion. Theres nothing better than seeing your car gain 60 rear wheel horsepower from a couple of bolt-ons, not even full exhaust, and a mild cam/intake setup!

It would be interesting to see what you hit after LTs, you wouldn't happen do be dynoing after that would you?

Hey ... I think 280/312 is pretty good

I've been following this thread and wanted to point out a thing or two I have seen with these Stangs of ours.

Seems like the bench mark of 300rwhp is something we all want to be able to achieve

I myself am not worthy

But like Scott talked about briefly .................

If we're talking about a street combo ... theres a good bit more to it than that magical peak value.

I've spent a great deal of time comparing all different kinds of combos you find on these boards. The focus has been on stock oem block based na combos btw.

I use sae dynojet dyno results as the data to do the comparisons
so stuff like:
My friend said this ...
or
Some guy on a Stang site said that ...
or
I think if you did this or maybe you tried that ...
etc etc etc

Nothing but hard data was used
and
each comparison was pretty close to equal
so
opinions have no bearing whatsoever with my study

I have seen some who have made and gone beyond the 300 mark
but
The way that combo made power is not as desirable for a street car as some who may have made less rwhp.

If you look closely at the curves of dyno results you will see not all combos make power alike.

It is much more easy to see the differences if each one is on the same chart but ... never the less ... look at the way each combo makes low end rpm power and mid range rpm power.

As for me ... I'll give up a bit of high peak power if I can gain low/mid range power ... Again talking about street applications here.

Once again ... Congrats on your combo

Grady
