Is Sandblasting going to damage my car?

Hi guys,
I have spent the last 3 hours searching through phone books trying to locate a place in New England near southern New Hampshire that will beadblast my entire car. I only found ONE place that will... and they ONLY do sandblasting, not glass bead.

I have heard bad things about sandblasting warping metal, etc... is it safe to have this done on my car? He said they could do the entire vehicle inside and out for $600 then epoxy prime it for another $400. It sounds like a great deal to me but I'm concerned about the metal.

Has anyone here had any similar experience??? Can you recommend a good place?

I sandblasted my first 67. The only regret was the trunk. It was a little wavy and I do not know if it was because there were so many layers of paint and I might have stayed on certain spots too long.
Sounds like a good price to me. Here in Denver they charge the same.

Do not let them go over 90 PSI, or they'll warp the panels. Also, try to get some photos, or phone numbers of people who have had their cars blasted. Ounce of prvention, a pound of cure...

The problem with media blasting is that it creates alot of heat. This heat is what warps the metal.

Telling them to turn down the pressure won't help.. they'll just use more media then and you'll have the same problem.

It can be done if your very careful, use a fine tip, and take your time. Since these guys are getting paid by the job... they are going to want to rush it. I don't know what to reccomend. It's a risk... are they a reputible shop? I would want some sort of guarantee that they will not warp the panels. In writing...

Sand blasting creates heat. Media blasting, not so much. The plastic media will melt before panels will warp.
