is the 95 model year as reliable as the 96?

are problems like this common on these cars? the research (carpoint.com) says that they are very reliable and the problems are minor and easily fixed.

i just bought a 1995 vert and told my wife that it was going to be reliable. she says i'm crazy to buy a car like this. it would kill me to have to admit that she was right.

i have had very few problems with my 1996. are they more reliable than the 95s are?

Only problems I've had are from me playing around with it too much Its been beat around at the track quite a few times and is still running

I know a guy who has 200k miles on his 95 and he sprays every time he races; it still runs strong too and from the track as far as I know. Just an example of how reliable the car is.

Like an anvil. The only problem I've had was for the fan recall and it's fine now.

Mine has been driven hard for 80k and runs as strong as the day it was new. I even put it in a pond and it didnt even stall. I however was a little skeered.

Mabye mine was a fluke but things are going nuts everyday. The exhaust is leaking, it is missing bad, the ac doesnt work, none of the guages are accurate, the car wont start most of the time, there are more creaks and rattles than I can count.....I guess I should have left it stock and just used my mod money for repairs from the start.... But despite all this I still love her to death (most of the time).

They are built ford tough I have owned mine for 3 yrs it has 115,000 miles not one major prob and according to a friend who ownes a 98 gt is very suprised when he drove it how much power it had when he floored it. He also owned a 94 supercharged with high miles never gave him any problems.

well the exhaust leak is only a problem of getting down there and tightening some bolts, not a reliability issue...AC problems are usually an issue of vacum leak or normal wear for a 10 year old car.....also when you have a car as modified as yours you cant blame that on the reliability of the car...and if you had problems before, and didnt fix them before modding then no offense thats your fault if they are still there or worse....

....for me personally :::knock on wood::: ive had zero problems with the car....

The exhaust leak has been attempted to be fixed many times and it always remains. The AC was listed in my post becuase he was wondering if anyone had problems and that is one I am incurring. I actually didnt have any problems when I started modding the car seriously but then once I did mod the car and spent all my money (I know should have saved) thats when things started going wrong. I told him mine may be a fluke but this has been my experience, it has run 4 out of the last 30 days from different problems. Just be glad your not having any problems and help me fix mine.

I doubt the reliability is much different, I know the 5.0 is cheaper and easier to fix which should be the more important benifit IMO.

In my opinion, a mustang is about as reliable as it gets. The fortunate thing is that there are certain problems known to pop up that are cheap and easy to fix.

On our cars, expect the radiator leak someday and the water pump to go bad.

If you leave a mustang alone (few modifications) it will run for a very long time. I have 196K miles on my 94 convertable and it's been great to me, never once left me stranded.

Allot of the people who bitch and moan about having an unreliable car have also modified it to the gills. This makes absolutely no sense to me and doesn't accurately represent how reliable a mustang is. Do you think a Honda is still reliable in the hands of a 17 year old ricer? They break too.

Enjoy your car, you were right. The car probably won't be trouble free, but, just like any car, if you take care of it, it will take care of you.

I bought mine last summer from someone who kept good care and kept it stock. I'm in the process of doing a few things since. I actually had to drive mine through this last winter (never again). Mine has been very reliable since I've had it.

i have had no major problems and have 85k on it...the only problems i have had are:
Harmonic balancer ....took me 3 hr's to fix
Bad Tranny mount .....took 1hr to fix
new poly motor mounts to match the trany mount .....paid some one $80
and i have a leak in one of my a/c lines but would take 30 min's to fix if do it.

So in almost 10years maybe $400 in unexpected matinaces...but it was still driveable during everyone of these problems

Josh95GT, that Eibach Pro-Kit, is it the springs or the sway-bars? I just installed the sway-bars on mine, and I LOVE them! The Flowmasters, American Thunder, or Force II? Next, you need some gears, 3.73's, or since you have an auto, maybe 4.10's. Also, a shift-kit, I don't know a whole lot about them, (I have a 5 spd) but the guys here would be more than happy to give you some ideas. Good luck!

Sorry, I should have mentioned I was talking about Josh95GT's signature. It mentioned he was looking for suggestions. My mistake. Anyway, ON topic, you can't go wrong with a 5.0. A lot of people think it is the best engine ever made by Ford. I guess 27 years of production backs that up. Plus, as somebody mentioned before, they are cheap to fix IF they do break down.
