I FINALLY, got my JLT intake. But there is no hole for the IAT sensor. Is this sensor really needed or can I delete it somehow. Don't really want to drill a hole in my new intake. HELP!

yes it is definately needed.

you can keep it in the tube between the maf and throttle body, or you can put it in the lower in the runner for the #5 cylinder. i think this is the stock location in the 87-93 5.0s.

my lower (a holley systemmax) has a threaded hole for it already, so i put mine there, but i haven't lengthened the wires yet so i can't connect it yet.

on 94-95 cars i would put it where it belongs, in the inlet tract after mass air meter.

As most others have said you NEED the IAT as the IAT sensor provides a critical piece of information for the computer to calculate the air fuel ratio (and we all know how sensitive our SN95 computers are from the get go and how they like to ping). And do not move the IAT to the lower intake, our computers don't like the hotter intake temperatures like the fox A9L\P does. I think you have to tap the hole in the JLT intake, just take your time and it'll turn out nicely.

with a kenne-bell, lots of people recommend the iat be moved to the runner so that there is a more accurate reading of the air temp (after the boost). that allows the computer to modify the ignition timing correctly, lowering the possibility of detonation.

bad idea in general, but especially for a boosted application, don't do it.

Could you post a pic of this? And does the stock Cobra have this port?

Yes, the stock cobra has this port ibelive. I know my svo motorsports does, and its the same thing. If you look where the number 5 runner is (looking from the front. second from the front on the right side), there should be a plug, you can replace the plug with it.

I had clearance issues (with the connector and the fuel rail, if I remember right) trying to put mine in the #5 runner. Luckily, my intake elbow had a port in it that matched the sensor; I'm not sure if it was there for that purpose or not.

Don't delete it. It's a critical sensor. If you have a KB, it needs to be after the blower - you can either put it in the #5 intake runner or drill out and tap one of the vacuum/boost ports in the KB discharge and put it there. Be sure the temp triggers get changed in the tune though.

Whatever you do ..... DO NOT DO THAT!!! You will be paying that much for a resistor ...... that you can get at Radio Shack for .25 for five of them. Besides ..... it will kill your fuel economy ..... amongst other possible problems. I KNOW. I did this to a truck a few years ago. I didn't keep it in there long, lol.

in this picture, it is just below the leftmost port. there is a brass plug in it.

in your application, since the intake tube is after the blower, the air would already be boosted/heated up by that point. so your iat should see the correct temp even if it is in the stock location.

in a k/b application though, since the blower is so "late" in the intake tract, the iat needs to be moved to after the blower.

make sense?

If you move it to the lower intake you WILL need a tune for your car to operate correctly.
