Is the MAF bracket necessary?

Is it really necessary to stabilize the MAF for the sensor to work correctly?
How can it handle road vibration if it does?

Not really needed, I have a 89 GT with a 70 MM MAF out of a 94 5.0 Mustang and it doesn't have a mount bracket. I just let the rubber ducting hold everything in place. No problems with the MAF or the rubber ducting.

Hello,
The upside to getting rid of the bracket, which is not needed as mentioned above, is that is a little bit of weight that is cheap (free) to remove.

I was thinking about grinding the mounting posts off the bottom of the MAF also to make it a little bit lighter. Sand and polish to a nice custom look.
:D

Thanks for the replys, guys.
