Im getting some other rims soon and my friend was thinkin wed just slap some slicks on these stock cobra wheels. Say we needed to run a smaller rim would the cobra rear brakes still clear? Tho running a smaller rim is not really an option
Yea u can run smaller rims in the rear. The best tire you could get for a 17" rim would be the new et street DR's. They are supposed to be awesome for the track

Mickey Thompson makes them. You can also look into the new Hoosier drag radial. Both are available through summitracing.com . The MTs are going to be my next tire. My Nittos were pretty good, can just imagine what they are like.
well, i cant launch too hard on them because the susp sucks. so i have not gotten everything out of them yet. I had to DD my cobra here for a little while so I took them off.
But on street tires i was running 13.4's in worse weather with 1.9s so with corrections the tires got me about 3-4 tenths. Now when i can air them down a little and come out of the hole hard, i should be in the mid 1.6s on them
You need to run an 8-9" rim in the 26x11.5/17 ET Street. It is technically a 26x9 tire size...that's just the way MT measures their ET Street tires. I have a set of them on my 17x8 cobra wheel and they fit great. The 275/40r17 MT ET Street Radial is very nice tire as well.
