I was just reading the 5.0 mustang mag from feb and there was this one letter from a mustang mechanic that got me alittle confused. He was complaining that Edelbrock made an aluminum intake for a honda but hasn't made one for a mustang. Then he proceeded to complain that there is a shortage of intake manifolds for the mods. Is this really true? I will be selling my bmw e36 to pay for *hopefully* and new or used mustang with the 4.6 mod. and I have always thought that the mustang had THE LARGEST aftermarket support than any other car in history...am I wrong? i then looked for ads in both MM$FF and 5.0...and couldn't find a single intake plenum for the 4.6 . Is there another aftermarket part that isn't readily available to the 4.6 crowd. I'd figure this can help me determine if i should really sell my e36.

There is only 1 aftermarket intake manifold for the 4.6 that isn't attached to a blower. I guess we have to wait until the 4.6 has been around for 30 years before Edelbrock or any of the other manufacturers can be bothered to make something for us... :stick:

yeah

yeah one aftermarket and the bullit intake.. but the bullit is a lot of trouble.. but the mustang does have a lot of mods.. you can do all the normal bolt ons with gears get a cam and heads done and you running 12's..

there is more than 1 intake manifold on the market.

there are..

the Bullit intake
Fox Lake intake
Reichard Racing intake version 2
the BBK intake is on it's way

if you want just the upper intake (plenum only)
C&L
Dragon
TrickFlow
Accufab

so there are plenty of options. the only problem is that all of the complete manifolds are in the $1000+ range except the upcoming BBK.

ahh very cool. by the time i get knee deep in modding my mustang, hopfully the bbk one will be out. Now i just have to decide if i really do want to sell my M3. It's an older one that i got in junior year, I think i might be able to keep it as long as i don't go too crazy with the modds. I also have to deal with the fact that i got into my top choice school, which means i'd have to be driving up to ny and then back to nj...quite possibly in the worst weather possible.
