is there upgrade from 86 gt mustang transmission

im having tranny issues so i just wanna get a new one...is there any aodtransmissions that are better then my 86 gt's...i dont need it to hold 1000 hp i only desire 300 to 370 hp from my stang..i just want a stronger tranny but more importantly is there a automatic transmission with more gears that can fit the 86...i want strenght and effciency but if theres a way to improve MPG's with a better tranny with more gears id like to jump on that as well... do anyone know something i may not....lol thanx

There are tons of them out there, I don't know any off the top of my head, but thay are out there. You can also have yours rebuild stronger, try google

wow you guys know how to search for things better then me thanx for showin some love....i have another question the c6 transmission whats the difference is it better..i hear it was for the explorer but it fits for a mustang is that true????

The c6 was usually mated to a BB. If you want to go three speed (which is what a c6 is) you would be better off with a c4.

im not sure when they stopped making the C6 tranny but its heavy compared to a C4 or AOD. can handle alot more abuse than the others but you lose overdrive compared to an AOD. im pretty sure the explorer dont have the C6 in it.
