Is this a good head set-up?

I have an opportunity to buy a pair of heads for my 69 with 351w. I'll be using this car for street/weekend cruiser. My question is, is this a good set-up? Here's the specs on the heads:


a pair of cast iron heads from World Product. They are Windsor Seniors.

Specs as follow:

Valves: 2.020” X 1.600” Manley Street – flo forged steel

Valve Locks: 11/32” X 7 degrees Hardened steel

Valve Springs: 1.250” single, 1.750” Installed height (double springs……..1.440”)

Valve seals: Iron, umbrella style

Valve guides: Iron, Integral steel

Pushrod guide plates: Hardened steel

Rocker arm studs: 7/16” top X 7/16” bottom

Combustion chamber is 64 cc

Intake runners at 200 cc volume

Exhaust runners at 64 cc volume



Windsor flow # : @ 28” h20

.600 lift, intake @ 236 cfm, exhaust @ 141 cfm

.500 lift, intake @ 222 cfm, exhaust @ 135 cfm

Is $550.00 for the pair a good price?

I believe those are the same heads my friend used on a mild 351W build up with a serious cam that put his fox body drag car with a C4/trans brake into the high 10's.

IF the heads are ready to go with a fresh valve job and have been checked out by a machine shop, I'd say $550 is quite a good price, just make sure your cam and those springs are compatible.

The world products heads are ok for mild builds, and are excellent material for porting. In stock form, they don't really flow that much. IMO, a decent street/strip performance head will flow around 250 cfm on the intake, 180 or so on the exhaust at .500 lift. Save more money and buy a better set of heads if you're really into performance. By the time you have the Sr's ported, you'll have more money tied up in them and they'll still be adding 50 lbs of unnecessary weight to the front of your car.

Umbrella seals ? On aftermarket heads ? Watch the piston to valve clearance with those 2.02 valves.
