Sorry, for sounding like a NooB, but I wanted to paint my intake, and I was just curious how hard of a job it is to get the intake off of the car? Do I need special tools? Any help is greatly appreciated!
It's not too hard at all. Basic handtools and a torque wrench will do. Just make sure you mark the vacuum lines and stuff so you know exactly where everything goes. Also make sure you cover the lifter valley if you take off the lower too.
I assume your meaning the stock 5.0 intake, its not very hard to remove. Do you want to remove the top and lower manifold?
But remember you are going to need aircraft stripper to remove the factory powdercoat. You could have it powdercoated to if you have some extra $$. Or even polish it, almoststock has a great write up on how to do that (I'm following it right now for my a/c and ps brackets).
I'm guessing you mean just the upper, imo, it looks gross when you do both the upper and lower. Anyway the upper isn't hard at all. Like mentioned above just label all of your lines or take pics or video or all 3 if its your first time.
i dont understand what you mean by it looks gross when people paint the upper and lower??? you cant even see the lower.
N E ways, heres a couple pics of mine, right after i painted it. i used a dupli-color aluminum color spray paint. and a clear coat. came out nice
