IS this possible for $2,000?

whell, thanks guys. like i have said, im really not worried about cutting up my stock headers, i got a welder. BUT how hard would it be, or is it even possible to custom make a header to clear the smog? also as a last resort, DO i really need the smog pump? will the aftermarket cat even use it? thanks alot

If you just need to pass the sniffer, you dont need the smog pump. All it does is pump air (adds oxygen) to the cats to keep them nice and hot. But I'm sure you'll get plenty of heat to the cats with the turbo. Just make sure the turbo and the cat(s) aren't too far apart. If you have to do the visual...they could fail you on that but you never mentioned anything about a visual...

Yes, it adds oxygen, but not to heep the cats hot. The oxygen is there so that the chemical reaction that is supposed to take place in the cats (NOx + CO + HC + O2 -->> CO2 + H20 + N) has enough oxygen to do it's job.

ok thanks guys. Ive noticed that some aftermarket high flow cats dont even have an air inlet!......if i place it reasonably close, what do you think? if i remove the smog pump. Plus, how really hard is it to cut the headers and extend em out, etc?

If you have a chop saw, or band saw, and grinder, along with basic hand tools its as easy as marking where the cuts need to be, fitting, thinking, maybe some measurements and then cutting.. Then of course, welding them together. You really have to put some thought into the design and layout though.. Don't want to fab up a whole kit and have it not fit, or fit poorly.

To make it nice, and look really nice takes some skill, but almost anyone can cut and weld, and make a turbo setup that will make power. And im taking a guess by saying you must be mechanically inclinded somewhat.. Otherwise you'll get aggrivated and give up on it, like some do.
