Is this T5 worth the effort?

I've been looking for a close ratio T5, I know for $1200 or so I could have a new one, but it's just not in the cards right now.
Anyway I found a T5 at a swap with a 2.95 1st gear. The only problem is it's an '84 (1352-065) That's non-WC, right?
I suppose it can't be much weaker than a 4cyl version.
My motor is stock so I wont be overworking it too much, just tired of my AOD.

I'd stay away from that one. Surf Stangnet looking for someone trying to get rid of a decent one.

Dude, a stock AOD is the most boring tranny in the world. Ive got one,BUT, Ive added a Precision Industries 2800 stall converter w/ tranny cooler. Trans-go shift kit, and 410 gears! I'll tell you what, this is now the funnest thing to drive! YES, an auto is fantastically fun to drive everyday!!!! And it is just as "if not" FASTER then any 5spd! And automatic trannies is what you want if you race it in the 1/4!! Dont be so hasty to get a 5spd!

Get a broken t-5 and get a G-force internal kit. It will cost less than a new T-5, but be a lot better.

G-force internals are like $1500. You might as well upgrade to a Tremmec for that much.
